Meet Dr. Payal Patel, MD
My name is Payal Patel MD, and I have been practicing medicine for over 15 years as a Board Certified physician. As the founder of Sunshine Pediatrics of Florida, my vision was to expand the practice to provide integrative care to patients from 0-21 years of age. I was fortunate to work part time with other pediatricians in the area until I decided to start my practice in May of 2007. It has been an amazing journey with so many memories, as I continue to see my patients grow up with the practice.
One of my earliest memories is when I first started; there were days when I was “it”! I answered the phone calls, checked insurances, triaged the patients, saw them as the physician and gave shots and so much more. I want to thank the many patients and parents who helped us grow, by referring us to their friends and family and have continued to support us through many times of transition. As our practice grew, we welcomed Dr. Saumeel Mehta in February 2010.
Our goal is to provide Integrative medicine where we can combine Alternative with Western medicine. We support many different approaches to providing care for your family.
Our Vision in 2017 was to become and accredited Medical Home via AAAHC, to serve our patients better and in a comprehensive manner which we successfully accomplished. As always, We will continue to integrate more physician directed group lectures such as CPR, Nutritional Counseling & Zumba, Asthma, Allergies, ADHD , CPR training as well as behavioral health management in office. On a personal note, I am originally from Gujarat, India and moved to the United States with my parents when I was twelve years old and settled in New Jersey. I have been in the United States for over 25 years now and have done all my schooling here. I graduated from Ross University in 2001 and did my Pediatric residency at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune, NJ.
My husband, Pritesh Patel, who is also a physician-Internal Medicine/Geriatrics right next door to us at SunMed Primary Care, and I moved to Tampa, Florida in July 2004. We have settled in Lutz for the past thirteen years and dedicate our time to our practice, as well as our two boys who keep us on our toes.
I love to dance, workout, read, travel, and run around with my boys for their sports and extracurricular endeavors. I am a former Zumba certified instructor, now founder/instructor of BollySoul Fit.
