About Dr. Patel
Dr. Payal Patel has practiced medicine for over 15 years as a Board Certified physician. She founded Sunshine Pediatrics of Florida in May 2007 with a vision to provide integrative care for patients from birth through age 21.
In the practice’s earliest days, Dr. Patel answered calls, checked insurance, triaged patients, saw families as their physician and gave shots. She credits the parents and patients who referred friends and family, supported the practice through transitions and helped Sunshine grow. Dr. Saumeel Mehta joined the practice in February 2010.

Family, movement & travel
Originally from Gujarat, India, Dr. Patel moved to the United States at age twelve and settled in New Jersey. She later moved to Tampa with her husband, Pritesh Patel, in 2004. She enjoys dancing, working out, reading, traveling and supporting her two boys in their sports and activities. She is a former certified Zumba instructor and the founder and instructor of BollySoul Fit.
