Tammy Maynard, DNP, APRN, CPNP-PC
Hello! My name is Tammy Maynard, and I am board-certified primary care pediatric nurse practitioner. I am also a US Navy veteran. I have worked in the health care field for 19 years. I proudly served as a hospital corpsman (advanced emergency medical technician-EMT) in the US Navy for 13 years. I had the pleasure of serving in diverse health care settings such as emergency medicine, family and internal medicine, pediatrics, and obstetric/gynecology units. After completion of my active-duty service, I completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree through the VCARE program at the University of South Florida in 2017. I then began my career as a registered nurse in a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) here in the Tampa area, where I worked for four years.
Shortly after completion of my undergraduate studies, I began the BSN to DNP program at the University of South Florida. I completed my Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2020 and Doctor of Nursing Practice with a concentration in pediatric health in 2021. I certified as a primary care pediatric nurse practitioner in 2020. My doctoral project focused on the development of the mother-infant bond in the postpartum period and family resources, environmental factors and infant health characteristics that may alter the quality of this bond. I am an active member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners.
On a personal note, I am originally from California but was raised here in the Tampa area. I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, reading, traveling, attending, and volunteering with my local church, and learning to cook new things! I have a true passion for pediatric health all throughout the pediatric lifespan. I believe my military service has gifted me with diverse experiences that I may utilize to provide high quality, empathetic care to every patient that I encounter. I truly look forward to meeting you all!
